I turn to my mixed media works on paper when I want to get my hands dirty with a more immediate response than when building sculpture or working on photography. These works on paper begin with spontaneous marks and movements of various and numerous mediums and are finished when adding anything more would take away from the cohesiveness of the final composition. Similar to how I build sculpture, I never know where Iām going when I start. My process is one of experimentation and discovery, looking for surprises along the way, pulling images out when I find them and being fortunate if I know when to stop. The finished work is a record of my journey through this process.
